Sociological Briefing: Do societies trust in the military?

This Sociological Briefing summarizes the article “Trust in the military in post-authoritarian societies” published in Current Sociology. To better understand the contradiction of trusting in the military despite their history of violence, five factors are proposed: trust in institutions, ideology, support for democracy, coup justification, and militarization of security.
