Hans Joas, ([email protected]) a German sociologist and social theorist, is Permanent Fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies, Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg, Germany and a Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago, where he also belongs to the influential interdisciplinary Committee on Social Thought. He was the Director of the Max Weber Center for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies at the University of Erfurt from 2002-2011. Prof. Joas has held academic positions in several universities including the University of Tübingen, the University of ErlangenNuremberg, and the Free University, Berlin.
